Keep Well the Road: Anniversary Songwriting

A school song connects generations—and creating one gives students a voice in that shared history. Taking place in the 2027–28 school year, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of our beloved school song, the Keep Well the Road songwriting project will engage every grade across the Junior School, from JK to Grade 6. Each grade will work collaboratively to compose its own song inspired by the theme “Keep Well the Road,” contributing new music to Branksome’s living traditions.

Your gift will support workshops, rehearsals and performances with professional songwriters, composers and musicians. Through age-appropriate experiences, students will develop musical skills alongside literacy, storytelling and creative thinking as they turn ideas into lyrics and melodies. They will practise listening, negotiating ideas, sharing responsibility and refining their work through feedback—learning that a strong collective creation grows from many contributions.

Rehearsing and performing will build focus, perseverance and confidence in front of an audience, while collaboration with practising artists will introduce students to the creative process. From our youngest learners to Grade 6 leaders, students will experience the pride of creating, contributing and belonging—and leave music that future students can enjoy.
